If you're not journaling then you are missing out on the most powerful tool in this game of personal growth.
"If ya don't ink it, ya don't mean it!" -Coach Becka Drake
This is the Walk You Through It Blog where I take you with me on a journey through things I've struggled with and together we walk through how to overcome them and move forward.
So what's so special about journaling?
I've thought about this a lot. There is power in writing. I believe journaling is the most powerful tool in personal development first and foremost because
It becomes a record of where we've been and a tool for measuring growth.
Why journaling?
Time travel: When we journal, we are literally creating an access point to the moment in time that we are journaling in.
Growth tracker: Journaling allows us to keep track of our goals, our progress, and our growth.
Understanding: Journaling makes room for introspection and self-reflection. It can be used to explore how we feel and why we feel how we feel.
Connections: When we get our thoughts out of our head and onto paper, often we make connections between thoughts that we wouldn't have realized if we hadn't written things out.
Mind cleaning: Journaling clears your mind and frees up mental clutter which allows your brain to work on tasks with more energy and focus.
What else? It organizes thoughts, allows you to assess situations, solve problems, set goals, see the goals you’ve accomplished, and...
its scientifically proven that writing your goals down brings more success towards the attainment of those goals.
So how do I get started?
Here's what I suggest. Get yourself a notebook and a pen. You don't need a fancy notebook or journal but I do recommend getting a composition notebook where you can't remove the pages. Once you've got your notebook, get to writing! It's that simple. If you need suggestions on what to write, I do have a coaching lesson specifically on journaling where walk you through several journaling exercises and give you a bit of a challenge at the end.
