Some call it purpose, others say passion, let's call it your "why".
How do we discover our why?
I would like to start by saying we don't find our purpose. It's not some thing that's waiting for you to find it. Rather, it is something that we build. With that being said, the thing that we need to discover is our interests. What are you interested in? If you don't know this then start here.
You need to try different things. Go hiking. Pick up a book. Take an art class. Learn a language. Dance. Ski. Climb. Run. Travel. Experiment. I'm not here to tell you what to do. I am here to guide you.
Here's what I recommend:
Grab that notebook of yours and your pen
Write a list of 20 things you'd like to learn
Write a list of 20 things you'd like to become
Write a list of 20 things you'd like to see
You can do these three lists all at once but I recommend taking a break in between each list. Don't worry if things overlap on your lists! That's actually a good thing.
Now, that you've completed the 3 lists it's time to take action. See what overlaps. Ask yourself if this is something you are really interested in doing, seeing, or becoming? If so, ask yourself "How can I make this happen?"
Get out there and try one thing on your list. If you enjoy it, do some more of it. Develop your skills around it.
If you don't like it as much as you thought, then great! It's time to move on and try something else.
"He who has a why to live can bear almost any how." - Nietzsche
I could go on and on about purpose, passion, and our why but for now, I'll leave you here. If you feel that you would like to go deeper on this subject then scroll to the bottom of this page, Fill out your name, email, put "why" in the subject line, leave your phone number in the message, and I'll reach out to you as soon as I am available.
Thanks for reading and I'll see you next Sunday!
